Details

CMG Entrance Scholarship in Actuarial Studies and Insurance

Starting from academic year 2018/19, a maximum of two scholarships will be awarded in each academic year. The scholarship, valued at HK$20,000 for each awardee per academic year, is tenable for four consecutive academic years, to be renewed annually subject to maintaining a Year GPA of 3.3 or above. Failing to attain the GPA requirement in a particular year would be disqualified from the scholarship in subsequent years. The total amount of the scholarship for two cohorts is HK$320,000.

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Full-time local Year 1 entrants of BSC-AIN;
  • Attain a minimum total score of 18 in the best 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination, meeting minimum admission requirement (including a minimum of Level 3 for Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics (Compulsory Part), and Level 2 for Liberal Studies and 1 elective subject in Category A (except M1/M2)); and
  • Attend selection interview if necessary.

CMG Subject Prizes

Starting from academic year 2019/20, a maximum of two subject prizes, for each of the modules AIN3330 Life and Health Insurance and AIN3520 Property and Liability Insurance, will be awarded in each academic year. The subject prize is valued at HK$5,000 for each awardee. The total amount of the subject prize for two cohorts is HK$40,000.

 

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Full time students of BSC-AIN;
  • Students with the best module scores; and
  • Attend selection interview if necessary.

SV Foundation Scholarship

To encourage students to pursue excellence in their undergraduate studies, SV Foundation established an academic scholarship at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong in 2019. There shall be five scholarships, each awardee to be granted a total of HK$30,000 within three consecutive years: HK$10,000 in Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4 of study. The scholarship is renewable each year subject to maintaining a Year GPA of 3.2 or above. Failing to attain the GPA requirement in a particular year would be disqualified from the scholarship in subsequent years.

 

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Full-time local Year 2 undergraduate students in any programmes;
  • One quota will be reserved for student studying in Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Actuarial Studies and Insurance;
  • Scholarship recipients are chosen on the basis of academic excellence with Year GPA of 3.3 or above in the academic year 2018/19; and
  • Students with financial needs whilst priority would be given to students receiving the maximum level of financial assistance under the Financial Assistance Scheme for Post-secondary Students (FASP) as granted by the Student Finance Office of the HKSAR Government (according to the level of financial assistance of the Tuition Fee Grant).
  • Students who have received other scholarships will be considered at a lower priority.

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers Scholarships

Beginning the academic year 2018/19, the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers Educational Trust will provide scholarships for undergraduates of BSC-AIN programme with the objective of encouraging tertiary education on insurance. There shall be four scholarships of HK$20,000 each.

 

Eligibility & Criteria

  • Permanent residents of Hong Kong;
  • Year 2 undergraduates in BSC-AIN (not including those who are on full-time internship / inbound exchange programme) in academic year 2018/19;
  • Must have completed second year of study;
  • Must be among the top six students in their class and have attained a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (based on the academic transcript of Semester 1, academic year 2018/19);
  • Awarded on the basis of academic merit and needs; and
  • Performance in selection interview.
